Agri-Stability and Agri-Invest

For agricultural producers who wish to be involved in the Agri-Stability and/or Agri-Invest programs there are important deadlines to meet for the 2012 year:

March 31, 2012 – Deadline to submit your 2011 interim application
April 30, 2012 – Deadline for new participants to request a new participant package for the 2012 crop year
Deadline to enroll in the Agri-Stability program (April 30 or 30 days from the date on your enrolment fee/notice, whichever is later), without penalty
September 30, 2012 – Deadline to submit your 2012 Agri-Stability program forms
December 31,2012 – Deadline to submit your Agri-Stability program forms with penalty

What happens to my Mineral Rights if I own them personally and I die?

Your estate (Beneficiaries) will have to pay tax on the assessed Fair Market Value of the Mineral Rights.

A better solution is to set up a structure, tailored to your specific needs that will enable your estate to decrease its exposure to tax upon your death.
